Jane Pickersgill
Jane Pickersgill is a Flight Lieutenant in the Royal Air Force, currently serving as a Flight Instructor on the EA-18G Growler at NAS Whidbey Island. Assigned to Electronic Attack Squadron 129 as part of a US/UK four-year exchange program, her role includes instructing US Navy and Royal Australian Air Force aircrew students of all experience levels through a year-long training syllabus. After graduating from Initial Officer Training in 2006, she completed Weapons Systems Officer training in the UK, and joined 617 ‘The Dambusters’ Squadron operating the Tornado GR4 strike aircraft. There, she deployed twice to Afghanistan, flying over 75 combat missions in support of Coalition operations, and was selected to deliver Squadron electronic warfare instruction. She then qualified as an advanced flight instructor with XV(R) Squadron at RAF Lossiemouth, Scotland, teaching novice and transition aircrew to Tornado, and became the Electronic Warfare Instructor for the Tornado GR4 fleet. A graduate of Durham University, she holds a LLB (Bachelor of Laws) First Class Honors degree in Law with Politics, and is midway through a Masters in Air Power in the Modern World at King’s College London. Her personal awards include a 904 Expeditionary Air Wing Air Officer Commanding Commendation and selection for the Chief of the Air Staff’s Fellowship Scheme with King’s College London.
